I'm so sorry to hear this. I've been thinking about Harry for awhile and wondering how he was doing. He was my Great Uncle. I read his obituary. I don't remember him having a brother named George but his brother, Robert was my Grandfather. He lived in Minong, WI.
Lit a candle in memory of Harry Michael Wheeler
Our prayers are with Harry. My mother is Maxine Rees (Bramel), and fondly remembers her cousin Harry. To her Aunt Pearl she remembers everyone calling him Jr. and the last time we saw Harry was a few years back when visiting Illinois. I feel a bond because I also play the organ (I am Maxine's daughter Beth)… for years now as well, and my Mom always would remind me of her cousin that played so faithfully and beautifully at church. Harry's mother Pearl (Alva Rees sister) was my mother's "life saver" as she took my mom in when she was a young lady and raised her as her own.Harry seemed to be bigger than life and such a kind soul. We visited in his front room, with my mom and my brother and he talked and talked. I was so glad to meet him finally after so many years of my mom talking about his wonderful talent at the organ. Harry Wheeler was a fine gentleman and fine organist. His service to Central Church for so many years was truly a blessing to all who were part of that congregation. It was a privilege to have know him and to have been an organist colleague of his. May eternal light shine on him as he rests in the love of the God he served so faithfully.
This is The Rev. R. David Reynolds, i. e. "Pastor Dave." It was my great joy and privilege to serve as the pastor of Central United Methodist Church from May of 2000 through June of 2005. Central UM Church remains one of my favorite Churches still today, and Brother Harry Wheeler was one of my most beloved and favorite parishioners as well. I so appreciate his talents as an organist, for organ was my minor at Asbury University. I still remember my first visit with Harry in May of 2000 as we sat on the porch and shared about Jesus, music, and the Church for at least an hour and a half. I also am a pet lover both dogs and cats, and Harry really loved his little dog. I also remember how he would catch the buss ever day to go for breakfast at Perkins. I would eat there from time to time as well, but I only remember running into Harry once during at Perkins during my tenure at Central. I know he is rejoicing in heaven with Jesus for all eternity. Rest in peace, Brother Harry. We all shall love and appreciate you forever.
