The "Voice of Decatur" lives on in the memories we share with one another. How he made each person feel important. With his good-natured, wholesome wit, Orv was always a class act. At nearly the end of a workday at 4:30 he would say, "Take the rest of the day off!" Another general saying of his, "100 years from now nobody will know." I'm not so sure in this case. His family and the Decatur community have been blessed for generations to come. Orv and Donna, all those years ago, thanks for making Decatur your home. You have made our hometown a sweeter place to live. God bless Donna, and her daughter Sabrina, and grandchildren, Graham, Whitney, and Emma...and the new generation in Lydia. Heaven is rejoicing hearing Orv's "radio voice"!

Kind and sweet and so unique... he will be greatly missed... sending love to all.in the family. Tom & Melissa Williams
as I grew longer in the tooth, and a Decatur Celebration Board member for 7 years, Orv would call upon me and offer his thoughts about the Celebrations direction, we in fact met for lunch a couple of times to exchange thoughts.
I respected his thoughts, he respected mine. I would often call him at his show in Clinton, always during breaks. We would exchange goodwill.
I could go on and on.
Gods speed to Donna, Sabrina, and the entire family.

So very many memories and stories to share. . . from my childhood, to just a few months ago. And now, where will the masses go to grieve this loss together? Where should we pay our final respects? Few men have had such a lasting influence on so many. My only comfort is knowing that, while I mourn by myself, there is a community of others who must do the same. We are of the same family - the ones fortunate to say Orv blessed our lives.
I met Orv when working at WSOY. I enjoyed his sense of humor. He is someone who will be greatly missed by many.
Or was the kindess, sweetest man I have ever met. Always had a smile and a hug for me. RIP Orv you will be missed by all who knew him.

So sorry to learn of Orv‘s passing. It was a great pleasure working with him for over 25 years. He was a class act and a real gentleman.
He love the people of Decatur and they loved Him. He was a great community leader who will be missed by all. Larry Foster
This message comes with great sadness and a heavy heart as I just learned of the passing of WSOY long time radio personality, Orv Graham.
Orv was the Walter Cronkite of Decatur, Illinois. I can’t remember a day where we weren’t tuned into WSOY listening to Orv report the news, the weather or a playlist of the many songs I grew up listening to.
Orv brought an air of class, dignity, sophistication, integrity, intellect and honesty that can’t be found in today’s radio or television personalities. He was legendary.
I remember many times, hearing my mother say to him that he was the voice who calmed the storms and gave us a sense of peace in knowing everything would be alright with the world.
Mom and I came to know him better when he welcomed us into the studio to speak on behalf of the Greek Orthodox community’s rich heritage and cultural traditions, particularly on March 25th as we celebrated the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary which also was the day of Greek Independence Day and our freedom from Turkish rule for so many years. We would bring our Greek records to the studio, highlighted various songs and he would play them throughout the day in honor of the Greeks of Decatur and around the world. His passion and commitment to the Greek community of Decatur didn’t stop there. He interviewed my mother and I as well as many other Greek women in the community, promoting our annual Stars Over Athens Dinner every first Thursday of May, again, playing Greek music on the air in the background of advertising for us. He joined us at the dinners every year and even joined in the circle of Greek dancing! What a guy!
In speaking for my fellow Greeks, I say to you, Orv Graham, we owe you a debt of gratitude for your passion for us and the community at large.
Our prayers are with your family and friends and we pray for your eternal and peaceful rest. Your memory will forever be an eternal blessing to all of us.
Join in the ring and dance with the Greeks you once knew who passed before you.
We salute you with a resounding OPA! and YASSOU as well as AXIO (you are deserving and worthy)!
With love and gratitude,
Annette Frank Phillips
"OG"was one of a kind, I was privileged to work for him at the radio station in Shelbyville,
WSHY, he came down from Decatur & did a live remote broadcast when Hardee's opened, he loved the Hardee's breakfast biscuit, I convinced him the buiscuits were made at the Herrick, Ill cafe & delivered that morning for the grand opening, we never let him forget it. My husband & I treasure our friendship with he & Donna, "OG" was a very
community minded person, never saw a stranger. His shoes will be hard to fill.
Blessings, Peace & Love to Donna, Sabrina & family. Lois & Frank Ruot
