Death Date: April 30, 2018
Frances “Kay” (Macke) Langsfeld, 78, of Decatur, passed on to be with the Lord peacefully Monday, April 30, 2018, at Farmer City Rehab & Health Care.
Kay was born February 27, 1940, in Windsor, Illinois and adopted by Alva Owen and Bessie M. Reynolds of Sullivan after her birth parents (Sims) were killed in a car/train accident in Windsor. Kay grew up in Sullivan, along with one brother (Richard Reynolds SR deceased March 4, 2003). Kay was married to Gene Macke (deceased February 2, 2018) and raised 3 son’s (Bradley, Todd, Courtney Macke). Kay is preceded in death by her late husband (Gary Langsfeld, Decatur).
Kay enjoyed watching baseball and an avid CUBS fan. She got to see the CUBS win the world series! Most knew Kay as a Master Florist at nearly every flower shop in Decatur and Mt. Pulaski. Kay was a strong disability advocate and a member of the DMH Auxiliary volunteers. She spent many weekends with her boys at motocross racing events around the midwest. She instilled work ethic in her children and taught them how to cook when she fixed meals. Her favorite color was lavender and loved bunny rabbits.
She is survived by 3 children: Bradley Macke, Barb Macke of Bloomington IL, Todd (Nikki) Macke of Decatur IL, Courtney (Stacy) Macke of Sylva NC. Eight grandchildren; Blake, Brooke, Adam, Max, Weston, Devon, Cameron, Allison. Nephew Richie Reynolds from Windsor, Illinois.
Kay’s warm heart and huge smile will be sorely missed, but fondly remembered. Everyplace she visited or resided her spirit shined through causing everyone to rave about Kay. Staff and friends would invariably share how wonderful a person she was and how she brightened their day!
The family would like to say thank you to Farmer City Rehab & Care Center and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington for their excellent care during the last few months of her life.
Services: Family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. and ceremony at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, at St. Patrick’s Church in Decatur. Friends may make donations in lieu of flowers.
