Marilyn G. (Thornton) Williams passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 with her daughters by her side. Marilyn was born on October 2, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Lawdie Oscar Thornton and Mary Jane (Doty) Thornton.
She married Donald M. Williams on March 9, 1946 in Danville, IL where she lived from her childhood through her adult years.
She was a devoted wife, daughter and mother. She was a great cook and loved to bake. She loved flowers, birds and animals of all kinds. She also loved to sing. One of her favorite songs was “It Had To Be You” by Frank Sinatra. She also had a great sense of humor.
Marilyn is survived by her brother, William Thornton of Danville, IL; daughters. Dana (David) Beshears of Boody, IL and Melodie (Kent) Cunningham of Moweaqua, IL. Two granddaughters, Laura (Cricket) Miller of Decatur, IL and Tylena Williams of Ormond Beach, FL; great-granddaughter, Lilly Diane also of Ormond Beach, Fl.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 siblings and 2 children, Roseanne and Stanley.
The family would like to give thanks to her home care aids, nurses and staff at Anthony McCormack’s office, the staff and nurses at DMH hospital and hospice care and the many friends that visited and loved her. A special thanks to Marilee D. Peters, Linda Wilson Klemm and Carole Reynolds.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Marilyn will be held at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 11 AM with a visitation an hour prior at 10 AM.
