Dixie Lee (Stutes) Johnson, 82, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away on May 20, 2022 in her home surrounded by her children. She was born on January 5, 1940 to Willis and Teresa Stutes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Johnson; stepson, Troy Lee Johnson, her parents, all her siblings, and close friends, Connie and Deana. She is survived by her children, Vicky (Ben) England, Paula Durbin, and Rich Kinney, all of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Tylena (David) Brand of Decatur, IL, Jessica (Clint Richmond) Durbin of Henderson, KY, Nicholas (Holly) Durbin of Decatur, IL, Lacey Hunt of Decatur, IL, Jenny (Kaleb) Smith of Rantoul, IL, Richie Kinney of Champaign, IL, Kyle (Alexandra) Johnson of St. Louis, MO, and Cody Johnson of Decatur, IL; great grandchildren, Gavin, Kambrea, Jase, Jaiden, Andy, Heaven, Nicholas, Luke, Markus, Corbyn, Jazlyn and Owen. Dixie Lee loved spending time with her family at the River Rats Camping. She loved anything outdoors, thrifting with her girls, and sitting on her porch enjoying the weather with her son. You could always count on her listening to country greats like Patsy Cline, George Jones, Marty Robbins and Keith Whitley. She started out as a waitress and worked her way up to own several restaurants and bars. Most will know her from the Double L. Anchor Inn, or Dixie’s previously in Warrensburg. Dixie Lee was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and business partner. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the staff at HSHS Cancer Care/Hospital, Carle Hospital, and Barnes Hospital for the care she was given during this journey. We would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to HSHS Hospice with special mention to her nurses, Jennifer and Lori, and the entire staff of CNA’s and on call nurses. The care and dedication that they provided to our mother was deeply appreciated and we cannot thank them enough for the excellent care they gave. We would also like to thank family and friends for their prayers and support during this difficult journey. A special thank you to Moran & Goebel for making this difficult time easier for us. Please join the family for memorial services on June 4, 2022 at Moran & Goebel at 10:00 AM followed by a celebration of life at the Whit’s End from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
