I was Bobby's "steady" girlfriend at Aliquippa High School. I was a freshmen and he was a senior. I will always remember our summer at the Plan 12 pool. He was the cutest lifeguard. Bobby was my first teen love.Rest in Heaven,Beverly
Bob was a classmate and a fraternity brother of mine at Washington and Jefferson College. He was a fun loving guy with an infectious laugh who will be missed by me and all those at W & J who knew him. We had many good-scratch that-great times together, especially on party weekends. We knew that Bob would make a wonderful physician because he was such a good person. Our Fiji fraternity brothers remained close in mInd and spirit even though we went our separate ways after college.I saw Bob at several college reunions, the last being our class' 50th reunion, and we reminisced about old times like they were yesterday. I extend my sympathy to Dr. Roma's family. I am sorry I was not able to attend the funeral service on Sunday afternoon.I am one of the Hospital Sisters who sponsors St .Mary's Hospital. Lit a candle in memory of Robert "Bob" Joseph Roma
I was a college student working at St.Mary's X-Ray when Dr. Roma first came to Decatur. He was truly a pioneer who introduced new advanced procedures to the hospital. I recall one of his first procedures there was very long and difficult, yet he took time to explain the procedure to me even though I was simply an interested student. My thoughts are with you and please accept my sympathy.
I am deeply saddened by he passing of a friend who meant so much to me. In 1993 I suffered a major heart attack at St. Mary's. Bob was on duty and rushed down the hallway to be at my side. I was totally out of it and I was told that he leaned over and said, Rod you have to be like the General and fight. You can't give up. Two days later at Memorial Hospital after major heart surgery, I received a beautiful arrangement of flowers from him with the note: Rod, the General welcomes you back from Berlin. The General we kidded about was George Patton.Rod Washburn
