Jan was an amazing women. Jan and Toomas were great friends. They helped Janet,Kristina and myself many times. Peeter was one of Kristinas first friends.
Jan was such a strong woman. We met 17 years ago, shortly after my twins were diagnosed with autism. God placed her in my life at the perfect time, as had it not been for Jan's friendship, I would not have the advocacy skills for my sons that I have today. She immediately felt like an old friend the moment we met. We have leaned on each other over the years, through the happy times and sad, and hearing the news of her passing was most difficult. A true friend...I'm glad she was my friend and am going to miss her tremendously. On a funny note...as chaotic as our lives were caring for our families, one day while I was living in Decatur and our boys were small...my twins 4 and Peeter 7, I was at Jan's home when we had coffee and a dessert. She brought my goodies to me with a nicely pressed linen napkin! I was so impressed and when I shared this with Jan we both just laughed. Here we were, special needs moms with chaos all around us but I felt like a princess being served in such a fine manner. While my heart aches, Jan is now reunited with her loved ones in Heaven, and I know she is happy. Thank you, my friend, for the wonderful memories.
Jan seemed to treat everyone as if they were special and as if she had known you all her life. I met her at Toomas' funeral, after having conversed with her via FB Messenger, after she became a close friend and support of my son is related to her and is on the spectrum. She was very nice and always was concerned with others' well being, more than herself.
Jan was one of my dearest friends. We argued about politics but our conversation always end with an I love you anyway. She will always be with me in my heart. I’ll miss her presence.
I'm so sorry. I was Peeter's teacher for 3 years. She was a wonderful mother.
