A. Virginia Boyer age 86 of Decatur died at 8:35 pm Monday June 07, 2004 in Lincoln Manor Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Friday June 11, 2004 in Saint James Catholic Church with Father Jeff Grant celebrating. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 pm in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home where vigil prayers will be recited at 5:30 pm. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Decatur. Virginia was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on October 24, 1917 the daughter of William and Catherine Ryan Boland, she was a member of Saint James Catholic Church and Saint Patrick Catholic Church, she worked as a secretary for over 20 years for the USF & G Insurance Company, and she also worked as a customer service representative for Illinois Power for over 20 years. She married Fred S. Boyer, II in Saint Charles, Missouri on December 07, 1940 he preceded her in death in 1977.
Surviving include her five daughters, Anne Ruble and husband Robert of Richmond, Kentucky; Mary Jo Hammer and husband Billy of Cerro Gordo; Dorothy Jenkins of Decatur; Kay Hartman – Coleman of Decatur; Sharon Gantt and husband Curt of Montgomery, Alabama, son; Fred S. Boyer III of Decatur, Illinois; sister, Kathleen Harlow and husband Jack of Manchester, New Jersey; sister in laws, Phyllis Boland of Decatur and Erlys Boland of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren include, Todd Hooker and wife Mary, Robin Boyer, Nicole Pantano and husband Daniel, Ryan Hartman and wife Julie, Bridgett Sullivan and husband Jim, Brett Workman and Jay Jenkins; eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters, three brothers, 1 grandson
