A. David Brandyberry's Obituary
A. David Brandyberry of Decatur, Illinois passed away at 6:00 am on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.
David was born in Belle Center, Ohio on July 21, 1933, to Arthur and Helen Brandyberry. He graduated from Belle Center High School in 1951. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War for two years and following his service, he attended Ohio State University. He graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering. On June 7, 1958, he married the former Jeanne Louise Lewis. David was employed at A.E. Staley for over 25 years and retired in 1992. He was Scout Master of Troop 275 for many years. David was passionate about his participation in church, often serving in leadership roles including Celebrate Recovery, choir, the Young at Heart Group, and assisted in providing compassion and community care for church members no longer able to attend services.
David is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years as well as his three children, Mark Brandyberry and his wife Jennifer, Alan Brandyberry and Lisa Brandyberry. He was also grandfather to Philip Brandyberry, Paul Brandyberry, David Brandyberry, Maryn Brandyberry, Audrey Brandyberry and Keisha Conley.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of David Brandyberry will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at First Church of the Nazarene, 1177 W Hickory Point Rd, Decatur, IL 62526. Pastor Adam Lewis will be officiating the service. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday before the service at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Celebrate Recovery or First Church of the Nazarene.
