A. Joan McClure's Obituary
Decatur- Joan McClure, 83, of Decatur passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Joan was born on September 2, 1931 in Ramsey, IL, the daughter of Joseph Matthew and Ethel (Blankenship) Spires. She married Fred McClure June 13, 1950, in Decatur, IL. Fred preceded her in death on October 2, 1985. She worked as a waitress and housekeeper. She also worked at Millikin University1980-1986 and later retiring from Life Foursquare Church in 2000.
Joan attended services at Life Foursquare Church and was a member since 1956. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Department Superintendent, Head Deaconess, and Chairman of U.F.W. group.
Joan enjoyed family get togethers, playing games, and taking friends places. She appreciated daughter Sandy, and her husband Rey for providing her a home since 1986.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Carolyn) McClure of Lancaster, OH, Daniel McClure of L.A. CA; daughter, Sandy (Rey) DeDios of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Bob (Cindy) McClure, Tony McClure, Gladys (P.W.) Calfas, Grace (Brian) Tate, Girly DeDios (Carlos Gonzales), Stanley DeDios, Kylah DeDios (Chuck Poland); eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Rodger McClure, one stepson Tom McClure, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral service to celebrate Joan’s life will be 11 AM Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Life Foursquare Church, 2954 West Ash Ave. Decatur, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Life Foursquare Church.
The family would like to give special thanks to Marilee Peters, doctors and staff at DMH, especially Chad, Brenda, and Denisa in the Cardiac Care ICU, for their compassionate care giving to our mother. The family would also like to thank the staff at Evergreen Assisted Living for their care and support.
