Aaron E. Hodges' Obituary
Forsyth – Aaron Evert Hodges (Junebug) of Forsyth left this world on December 8, 2015. At the age of 72, he succumbed to cancer while in his home under hospice care.
Aaron was a veteran of the 101st Airborne Division in the U.S. Army and a retired dispatcher. He built his dream home in Forsyth after working 32 years at Illinois Power Company. He enjoyed St. Peter AME Church, family, friends, travel, fishing, volunteering for the AMELCA Food Pantry, and the Macon County Honor Guard.
His memory will be cherished by his family: beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Catherine (Shaw) Hodges, his daughters Tanja Renee Hodges, Deatri Lavonne (Collier) King-Bey, Sonya Yvette Hodges; nephew Christopher Alan Hodges; fostered son Tyrone Eugene Connaway, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He is survived by siblings, Doris Graham, Wilma Hodges, Ollie Slaw, Kathy (Lonnie) Williams, Pamela (Rafael) Graham, Freddie Hodges, Alfonso (Joyce) Hodges, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Aaron E. Hodges Sr. and Minnie Lou (Blue) Hodges; his sister Loretta Hodges; and by his daughter Bryanna Tysene Hodges.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Wade, Dr. Justin Parker and all the medical staff who provided such loving care for Aaron.
Visitation will be held at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur, IL 62526 on Tuesday, December 15th from 5-7 pm.
Services will be held at St. Peter AME Church, officiated by Reverend Vivian Clarington, 515 S. Church St., Decatur IL. 62522 on Wednesday, December 16th at 10 am.
The family requests that no flowers be sent; please donate to the AMELCA Food Pantry at 250 W Decatur St. Decatur, IL 62522 in his memory instead.
