Alice Verniece Williams' Obituary
Alice Verniece Williams, 87, of Decatur passed away at 9:35 am Monday, October 31, 2011 in her home.
Alice was born on August 31, 1924 in Sullivan, IL the daughter of Clarence S. and Hazel I. Sutton Williams. She worked as a seamstress in a garment factory and was a member of the garment factories retirees club and acted as treasurer. She was a member of West Decatur Church of God and an active member of WCSC.
Surviving are her brother, Clarence Samuel Williams Jr. Mary Maxine of Decatur; sisters, Evelyn Black of Decatur; Betty Jones Ben of Springfield; Mary Grant Gary formerly of Decatur; eight nieces and nephews, six great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service celebrating Alice’s life will be 11:00 am Friday, November 4, 2011 in West Decatur Church of God with Pastor Jim M. Baldwin Sr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park and conclude with the “Flight Home” ceremony. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to West Decatur Church of God.
