Allen L. Davis' Obituary
Allen L. Davis. 83, of Decatur, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Zion.
Allen was born May 26, 1924, in Quincy, the son of Lloyd and Charlotte Allen Davis. A graduate of Quincy Senior High School and Gem City Business College, Allen served his country in U.S. Navy during WWII in the European African Middle Eastern Area and the Asiatic Pacific Area. He worked for Decatur Bottling Co. before becoming an independent sales rep until his retirement. Allen was a member of St. James Catholic Church, K of C Council #577 and was very active with the St. James South Side Improvement Association. He married Frances Brink on July 20, 1946 in Decatur.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances of Decatur; sons: James wife, Mandy Davis of Decatur and Jeffrey wife, Linda Davis of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Jody husband, Scott Beutler of Barrington; grandchildren: Kara husband, Ricardo Batisda, Justin Davis, Lynne Davis, Ryan Davis, Natalie Beutler, Bradley Beutler and Sam Beutler; great-grandchildren: Emily and Nicholas; sister, Virginia husband, Ted Berglind of Quincy; sister-in-law, Pat Brink of NJ; seven nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law and one nephew.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 pm Sunday, November 11, 2007, in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home where a vigil prayer service will be held at 2:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Monday, November 12, 2007, at St. James Catholic Church, Rev. Jeff Grant celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials: Ss. James and Patrick Parish, St. Teresa High School Foundation or St. Teresa High School Football Program.
