Alma Lowery's Obituary
Alma L. Lowery, 85, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Alma was born April 15, 1932, in Flora, Mississippi, to Will and Parthenia (Gardener) Johnson. She married Taylor Lowery, Jr. on July 1, 1953, in Decatur, IL. He passed away August 28, 2006. Alma was a member of CWFF Church of the Living God, Senior Choir member, Gospel Chorus and Big Brother Big Sister. She loved her church, sewing, plants and kids.
Alma is survived by her three children, Curtis (Zipporah) Johnson of Decatur, IL, Terry (Ernestine) Lowery of Cincinnati, OH and Mary Bell of Decatur, IL; 8 grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Eddings of Vandalia, MI, Sally Roach of Chicago and Charlotte (Charles) Dickenson of Maywood, IL; aunt, Artist Vinson of Decatur, IL; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and foster children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Taylor; one son, Freddie Bell; two brothers, two sisters and one grandson, Terry Lowery, Jr.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Sebastien Kairouz and staff at Cancer Care Specialists as well as Fresenius Dialysis Center and staff.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Alma Lowery will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017, at CWFF Church of the Living God. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church before the service. Burial will be at Camp Butler. Memorials may be directed to CWFF Church of the Living God 400 South Franklin Street, Decatur, IL.
