Alva Roy Jain 87 of Decatur departed this life at 9:30 pm on Saturday September 06, 2003 in McKinley Court Nursing Center.
Memorial Service will be 10 am Thursday September 11, 2003 in the Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. Cremation has been accorded. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family. Condolences may be made to the family at www.moranandgoebel.com
Alva was born on April 01, 1916 in South Bend, Indiana the son of Alva R. and Lydia Swanson Jain. He was a self employed entertainer for many years; working alongside his wife for over 22 years as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus in Central Illinois. He was a former winner of the famed Arthur Godfrey Talent Scout Agency out of New York; he was a member of the Blackey Nelson and Personalities traveling all over the United States. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was of the Christian faith. He married Patricia Lee-Heath on June 25, 1975 in Michigan City, Indiana, she survives.
Also surviving are his sons; Michael Heath and wife Barbara of Minneapolis, Minnesota, David Jain and wife Tana of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Lee Jain and wife Debbie of Sandusky, Ohio; daughters, Linda Jain of Dobb Ferry, New York, Debra LaVelle of Bradley, Illinois, Theresa Jain of Winter Springs, Florida and Patti Galeaz and husband Dino of Campus, Illinois; one brother, Theodore Jain of Kent, Washington; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
Alva was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
The family of Alva would like to express their sincere thanks for all the ministers from DMH and their prayers; the DMH hospice staff for all their help, and the staff at McKinley Court Nursing Home for their wonderful care and concern for Alva while he was a resident there.
