Amanda Marie Cowger's Obituary
As we lay to rest the tired body of a great woman, we know that her spirit will always be with us. Amanda Marie Cowger went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, April 28, 2008 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born Amanda Marie Hibbs on June 13, 1918, in Decatur, IL to Grace and John Hibbs, She met Earl Clifford Cowger who became her lifetime love. They married on June 18, 1935 and from this marriage came nine beautiful children.
She leaves us not to mourn but to cherish her memory. Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Lunsford Gene; son, Michel Cowger Sandra; son, Clifford Cowger Shirley; son, Stephen Cowger; daughter, Ann Gulick Robin; son, Lynn Cowger Sharon; daughter, Lynette Cowger; daughter, Monica Himmelrick; son, Scott Cowger Kim; 35 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband; her brother, Johnny Hibbs; sister, Alice Crawley; 1 grandson, 3 great-grandsons, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
She loved Eddy Arnold and when we hear the song lyrics “Just a little lovin will go a long way”, we know she is the greatest example there is. We will miss her with all our hearts, but the love will go forever.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Casual attire is requested.
