Anna Lee Goins' Obituary
Anna Lee Goins 103 of Savoy formerly of Decatur died Sunday September 7, 2003 in Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Home Going Services celebrating her Life will be 11:00 am Friday September 12, 2003 in St. Peter's AME Church Decatur. Services entrusted to the care of Moran & Goebel Funeral Home 2801 N. Monroe Street. Visitation will be one-hour prior services. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Condolences may be made to the family at www.moranandgoebel.com.
Mrs. Goins was born on January 4, 1900 in Pulaski county Tennessee the daughter of Sam and Mary Ann Goff McGrew. She had worked as a seamstress. She was a member of St. Peter's AME Church, member of the church's usher board, member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #65, Lifetime member of the NAACP, and member of Big Sisters since 1933. She married Harry Leroy Goins he preceded her in death on January 4, 1983.
She leaves not to mourn but to cherish fond memories three grandsons, J. Carle Blanche Abernathy of Aurora, CO; Phillip Linda Abernathy of Champaign, IL; and Charles Abernathy of Urbana, IL; three granddaughters, Sheila John Cloyd of Grainger, IN; Francine William Watkins of Temple Hill, MD; and Toni Abernathy- Young of Decatur, GA; fifteen great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Mary Louise Abernathy, one granddaughter, Jackie Abernathy, four brothers, and six sisters.
