Annetta Mae McCoy's Obituary
Decatur – Annetta M. McCoy (Durbin) was called home peacefully at Decatur Memorial Hospital on May 23, 2014.
She was born on December 31, 1934 in St. Elmo, IL, the daughter of Darel J. Durbin and Alice N. (Dowds) Durbin. Annetta graduated from Altamont High School in 1954 and attended Sparks Business College. Following her education, Annetta married the love of her life Leo McCoy and together they had 5 children. Annetta and Leo also graciously raised 1 grandchild Courtney McCoy and 1 great grandchild Maekayla McCoy. Annetta worked at Iverson’s Jr. Bootery and the Herald & Review until she retired. She loved spending mornings at Jan’s East in Grill and Claire’s with her friends and family having coffee.
In addition to her father, Annetta was preceded in death by her loving husband Leo Dale McCoy; her son Joseph Earl McCoy; one sister Mary Catherine Apke; two brothers Jay Francis Durbin and Ross Eugene Durbin; and one granddaughter Amanda McCoy.
Surviving in addition to her mother, Alice Durbin, Annetta lovingly leaves behind her three daughters Patricia L. Groves and her husband, Curtis, Mary “Sam” Iverson, and Virginia Crum and her husband, Chuck; one son Steve McCoy and his wife, Rebecca; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren as well as many additional loving family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Annetta’s life will be 4 PM Thursday, May 29, 2014 in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Rick Weltin as Celebrant. Visitation will be 3-4 PM Thursday in the church. Those who wish to remember Annetta in a special way may make gifts in her memory at Decatur Earthmover Credit Union under the Annetta McCoy Memorial. Annetta may have left this world, but she will forever be in our hearts.
