Arlean M Oliver's Obituary
Arlean Marie Oliver, 65, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Arlean was born in Crewe, VA on January 14, 1951 the daughter of Walter B. Oliver and Annie (Jones) Oliver. Her family moved to Decatur, IL in 1967 and she received her diploma in 1969 from Eisenhower High School. She was employed by the State of Illinois for 25 years at the Lincoln Development Center as a mental health technician II.
Arlean is lovingly survived by her sons, Brian (Jenny) Oliver and Corey Oliver. The lights of her life. She is also survived by two sisters, Brenda Owens of Decatur, IL; and Maxcine Jackson of Wilmington, DE; and a special friend Vonnie Pirtle.
Arlean was the loving grandmother to seven beautiful grandchildren: Tylan, Trey, Quinny, Alyssa, Christian, Brilen, and Bryson. She was also the proudest great-grandmother of Brian “BJ” Oliver who she loved immensely and cherished.
Arlean was loved dearly by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and by all of those she called her “Children”. She was blessed to have such wonderful people in her life. Cooking, music, church, and traveling with family are just a few things she enjoyed the most. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Arlean was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jacqueline Turpin.
Homegoing Celebration of Arlean’s life will be 12 Noon Saturday, March 12, 2016 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Rev. Robert White officiating. Visitation will be 11AM -12 Noon Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Graceland Cemetery.
