Arthur Earl Smith, Jr., 64, of Decatur, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, in VA Illiana Health Care, Danville.
Funeral will be 11:00 am, Monday, May 18, 2009, in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will follow in Point Pleasant Cemetery, with Military Rites.
Arthur was born June 2, 1944, in Decatur, a son of Arthur, Sr. and Helen Riddle Smith. Arthur was a US Army veteran and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the ABATE Prairieland Chapter. Arthur was a truck driver and also loved his motorcycle. He enjoyed stock car and NASCAR racing, and he loved to mushroom hunt. He was loved by his family very much, and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his two sons, Ronnie Smith Elizabeth, of Brownstown; Terry Smith, of St. Elmo; two daughters, Shelly Kok Kenny, of Odessa, TX; Angie Parr Bobby, of Mt. Pleasant, TX; his parents, Arthur Sr. and Helen; one sister, Linda Riley Monte, of Mt. Zion; one brother, Ron Smith, of Stonington; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Ann Campbell.
The family of Arthur E. Smith is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe St., Decatur, IL.
