Arthur Swinnen's Obituary
Arthur Swinnen, 93, passed away on Tuesday April 13, 2010 in his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Saturday April 17, 2010 in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm Friday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a Vigil Prayer Service at 4:30. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Decatur. Memorials are suggested to DMH Hospice.
Arthur was born on August 10, 1916 in Pana, IL the son of Gustave and Rose Domanowski Swinnen. He retired from Caterpillar. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and St. Teresa's Booster Club. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus Council #577 since he was 18 years old. He was also a member of Jeremiah Murphy Assembly #211 and was Past Faithful Navigator. He was also a Die Hard Cub's Fan. He married Dorothy Jean Stringer on July 5, 1941 in Assumption, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, children Connie Logue John of Decatur; Judy Reeves of Decatur; Phyllis DeLanoy Jeff of Wixom, MI; Lynette "Lynn" Swinnen of Decatur; Joseph Swinnen of Maroa; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank the DMH Hospice staff especially Dr. Franklin, and Nurse Gail.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one grandson.
