Avery Lee Orr's Obituary
Avery Lee Orr, 81 of Decatur went home to be in Glory on Monday May 28, 2007 in her home surrounded by her family and friends.
Homegoing services will be 12:00 pm Saturday, June 2, 2007 at the Church of The Living God Temple #1 PGT with Rev. Marshall Hughes officiating and Elder Sam Robert Owens Eulogist. Visitation will be two hours before service in the church with Eastern Star Funeral Rites conducted by St. Mary's Chapter #65 Order of the Eastern Star at 11:30 am. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park.
Avery was born on March 10, 1926 in Asque, MS the daughter of Charlie and Lizzie Allens Woods. She retired from Caterpillar Manufacturing after 20 years of service. Before that she worked at St. Mary's Hospital and Decatur Signal Depot. She was a founding, charter member, and trustee of Church of The Living God Temple #1 PGT. She also served as chair of the Mothers Board, past president of Nurses Aid, former president of Training Union, and belonged to other Church auxiliary groups. She was a member of Decatur Obedience training Club, St. Mary's Chapter #65 Order of the Eastern Star, and was a foster parent for 15 years. She married Charlie Orr on March 29, 1944 in Arkansas they were married for 63 years. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2007.
She leaves not to mourn but cherish fond memories son, Brian Orr of Decatur; step-mother, Anna Dee. Woods of Decatur; sisters, Daisy Lee, Charlene Anderson, Michelle Woods, DeeAnn Woods, and Tresa Woods all of Decatur; five generations of special nieces, nephews and foster children. She also leaves a host of cousins, church family, other friends and colleagues.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie Orr; and one sister, Flora Estell.
The family would like to thank Dr. A. Bilyeu, Manor Care therapy team, and all special caregivers for all their care.
