Barbara J. McCool's Obituary
Barbara Jean McCool. 90, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Fair Havens Senior Living.
Barbara was born Aug. 30, 1929, in Tuscola, IL, to Russell and Virginia (Leach) Montgomery. She moved from Tuscola to Decatur as a child and attended Decatur schools. Barbara married Harold Lester McCool on August 4, 1947. He preceded her in death. Barbara and Harold raised 4 children; Darrell, Allan, Lee Ann, and Brian, all of Decatur and surrounding area. They had 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Barb was a kind-hearted woman, who had a soft spot for animals her whole life. She was a homemaker after raising her own 4 children and took on the task of raising her 2 grandchildren (Bryson and Renee) from birth. She spent the last few years of her life with close family, pets, and had friends who were considered family throughout her life. She was very passionate and took great care in what she loved. She is known and remembered for her lively and silly attitude. She always knew how to put a smile on someone’s face and make them laugh; she was a true child at heart. She would do anything for anyone, especially those she deeply loved. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, as well as anyone who knew her.
She is survived by Darrell (Jacqueline) McCool, Allan (Sarah) McCool, and Brian McCool, and Lee Ann (Gary) Merlie, Ryan (Leslie) McCool, Michael McCool, Bryson McCool, Renee McCool, Sarah McCool; Emily McCool and Chloe Davis.
