Beatrice Connors' Obituary
Beatrice Connors, 109, of Decatur passed away on Thursday July 3, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
She was born on October 10, 1904 in Brownsville, TN the daughter of George and Margaret (Fields) Brack. She had two wonderful husbands, Morgan Reed and John Connors who preceded her in death.
Ms. “Bea” worked on the family farm until she moved to Chicago in the fifties. She enjoyed life to the fullest, and enjoyed traveling and seeing the country. She was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Chicago, for 40 Plus years. She then renewed her membership with Greater Northside Missionary Baptist Church, when she moved to Decatur.
She took pride in the fact that she could still move around independently and only started to use a walking cane, within the last couple of years. She enjoyed bingo and reading her Bible.
She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Lenora Taylor of Springfield; three grandchildren, Leon Taylor (Ruby) of Springfield, IL; Elvin Taylor (Zell) of Dayton, OH; Bonnie Anderson of San Leandro, CA; five great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Morgan and John; a sister, Annie Barbee.
The family would like to thank the staff at Symphony of Decatur for all their care of Ms. “Bea”.
Homegoing Celebration will be 11 AM Friday, July 11, 2014 in Greater Northside Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Waddell officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Friday in the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
