Bernadine Kane, 87 of Decatur, died on Wednesday April 02, 2003.
Funeral Services will be 10 A.M. Saturday April 05, 2003 in
J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 P.M. Friday. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.
Ms. Kane was born in Rockwell City, IA. on April 11, 1915 the daughter of Millard and Hazel Powell Wilson. Bernadine and her husband owned and operated Wilson’s Ice Cream Parlor on North Main St. in Bloomington IL. for several years before moving to Decatur. In 1934 Bernadine had the priviledge of cutting the ribbon on the very first Steak N Shake restaurant to open in the country. She loved to work in her yard, and retired in 1980 from Super X drug store where she worked as a clerk. She married William Kane in Toulon IL. on June 26, 1937, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 1990.
Surviving are her daughters: Kay Theobald Richard Sr. of Decatur; Debbie Miller Thomas of Decatur; son, Larry Kane Rosemary of Joliet; brother, Dwight Wilson Miriam of Pnotiac, IL.; sister, Betty Gaffney of Bloomington; grandchildren: Becky Briney, Richard Theobald Jr., Peggy Groves, Jeffrey Theobald, Julie Langford, Jennifer Cooney, Kelsey Miller, Bradley Kane. Great grandchildren: Brandon and Cooper Kane, Dana Beaman, Posha Briney, Tiffany and Hope Theobald, Samantha and Andrea Langford, Destiny Theobald;
great great grandchildren: Ariana, Michael and Haley Beaman.
Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her parents, husband and one brother preceded her in death.
