Bernadine I. Worlds' Obituary
Bernadine Inez. Worlds 83 of Decatur died Saturday July 21, 2007 in McKinley Court Nursing Home.
Homegoing services celebrating Bernadine's life will be 11:30 am Friday August 3, 2007 in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Bernadine was born on April 9, 1924 in her home at 757 Jackson Street in Decatur, IL. She was born from the union of George Hawkins of Brownsville, TN and Christine Martin of Hawkinsville, KY. She graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1943. She was married to the love of her life Charles L. Worlds in 1947. He preceded her in death. From this union she had two daughters, Debora James Cooper and Gilda Tony McNair. She worked at Redwood Restaurant, Lakeview High School, Lynn and Scruggs, and she also was a school crossing guard. Our mother had a love for painting, cooking, sewing, and knitting and traveling. She grew up with four sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by her daughters Debora James Cooper and Gilda Tony McNair, sisters, Mary Wade, Martha John Bankston, and Patricia Coleman; brothers, Thomas Stella Hawkins, and Richard Eleven Cole; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many family and friends whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Albert Coleman, David Coleman, and Leonard Hawkins, sister, Darlene Webb, and twin baby sisters, Linda and Brenda.
The family would like to thank McKinley Court, Hospice, Decatur memorial Hospital and Dr. Khan for all their Care during Bernadine's illness.
