Bernice C. Olinger's Obituary
Decatur-Bernice C. Olinger, 95, of Decatur, passed away at 12:53 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 in Primrose Retirement Center.
Bernice was born March 21, 1920 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Anton and Pauline Shaikis. She married Marcel N. Olinger August 28, 1948 in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. She and Marcel lived in Chicago until 2000 when they moved to Decatur. Marcel preceded her in death April 23, 2007.
Bernice was a homemaker and loved to make crafts and sew. After moving to Decatur she used her creativity to sew more than a thousand quilt tops for Christ Care Stitchers and Project Linus on her beloved 1948 Singer sewing machine
Bernice is survived by her daughters Pauline Rasho (Bob) of Forsyth and Donna Bretz (Ron) of Lake St. Louis, grandchildren Kim Watson (Chris), Tracy Main, Anne Vanderkamp (J.T.), and David Rasho (Cory), and ten great-grandchildren.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Charles Laimon and John Laimon, and sister Ruth Krumrei.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. D. Patel and staff, Dr. G. Patel, and the staff at Primrose for their exceptional care of Bernice.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Bernice’s life will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3850 Lourdes Dr. Decatur, with Rev. Richard Weltin, Celebrant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleums in Evergreen Park, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or the Central IL Chapter of Project Linus.
