Bernita G. Camfield, 83, of Decatur, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 in Inverness, FL.
Services celebrating her life will be 2 P.M. Saturday, May 24, 2003, in J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour before services. Memorials may be made to the Mel and Amy Camfield Scholarship Fund in c/o Earthmover Credit Union, 2600 Dividend Dr., Decatur Illinois 62526.
Bernita was born in Malta, Montana on February 26, 1920 the daughter of Earl V. and Bertha E. Stevens Miller. She was a homemaker who also owned and operated Camfields Restaurant and Pool Hall for several years. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Dash Disposal, and an inspector at the Illiopolis fuse factory during WWII. Bernita attended Heartland Community Church. She was an avid racing fan and previous owner of several sprint cars. Bernita married William E. "Bill" "Chief" Camfield on December 8, 1946.
Surviving are her husband of Decatur; daughter, Pat Steve Jones of Maroa; sons: Jerry Sandy Camfield of Decatur; Dennis Brenda Crowder of Argenta; Dave Rhonda Camfield of Maroa; Joe Carol Camfield of Chapperal, NM.; Terry Shelly Camfield of Oreana; sister in law, Ilene Camfield of Decatur; 25 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bernita was preceded in death by her parents.
