Bertha D. Cook's Obituary
Bertha D. Cook, 73 of Decatur, departed this life to be with the Lord at 3:10 am, Saturday, January 31, 2009, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Bertha was born on September 6, 1935, in Decatur, the daughter of Luther and Bertha Williams. She was married to John L. Cook in 1952 and worked for over twenty years in a supervisory position. Bertha was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church for twenty four years where she sang in the choir and the praise & worship team. She began singing at the age of five and once sang with the Mills Brothers.
Surviving are her daughters: Linda Fisher and husband, Robert of Decatur, Shirley Richardson and husband, Frank of Decatur; son, John Cook and wife, Rosario of Decatur; grandchildren: Kimberly Walker, Holly and Andrew Richardson, John and Mariah Cook; sisters: Mary Stevens of Colorado Springs, CO, Leoma Murrell of Harristown and Carolyn Williams of Decatur; brother, Richard Williams of Decatur and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Luther Williams, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 500 S. 27th St. Decatur, IL, 62521. Services celebrating Bertha’s life will be 1 pm, Friday, February 6, 2009 in the church. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
