Betty A. Blankenship's Obituary
Betty A. Blankenship, 96, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Hickory Point Christian Village in Forsyth.
Betty was born September 26, 1924, in Cerro Gordo, IL to Ernest Cecil and Harriet Eliza (Kramer) Oliver. She married Lloyd Junior Blankenship on October 19, 1946. He passed away on October 13, 2004. Betty was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and volunteered weekly. She was an avid reader, loved playing Bunko with her friends, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her children, Dale A. (Karen) Blankenship of Springfield, IL, Donald D. (Jill Kempf) Blankenship of Austin, TX, Kelli A. (Kevin) Reynolds of Decatur, IL; step-daughter, Janet A. Dobson of Cerro Gordo, IL; ten grandchildren, Tony Childress, Lori (Sam) Manley, Tommy (Nan) Childress, Rikki (Kevin) Groves, Breana (Alan Wang) Blankenship, Kate (Tony Wild) Blankenship, Tyler Blankenship, Sofie Blankenship, Jackson Blankenship and Robert L. Phelan III; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; her two daughters, Shirley Jean Blankenship and Carol Lee Kendall; her brother, Junior Oliver and her two sisters, Helen Greider and Erma Harriet Hayes.
Private family services will be held to celebrate the life of Betty Blankenship. Burial will be Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church.
