Betty Ruth Cadwallader's Obituary
Betty Ruth Cadwallader , 97 of Decatur, formerly of Springfield, IL. passed away peacefully in her home at Primrose Retirement Community on March 23, 2023, surrounded by her four loving daughters.
Betty was born on August 9, 1925 in Patoka, Illinois, the daughter of Claude and Mollie (Sprinkle) Hatch. She married the love of her life, Clarence Victor (Vic) Cadwallader on December 21, 1947. Betty retired from the State of Illinois, where she had worked for many years. She was a long time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield IL. , where she had been involved in a mentoring program for children. She also tutored adults in a reading program. She attended Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL., in her later years. She enjoyed spending time with her family (her tribe), playing piano, cooking for her family, watching the birds and the sunsets, reading her bible and doing her puzzles. She loved Jesus and thanked him every day with raised hands for another day of life.
Betty is survived by one sister, Evelyn R. Lourash; her daughters, Vicki (Jim) DiBartolomeo, of Decatur, Claudia (Matt) Cadwallader of Atascadero, CA, Susanne (AJ) Hutson of Cocoa Beach, FL. and Sally (Bill) Stieglitz of Morton, IL; grandchildren, Andrew (Julie) Goin; Alexa (Gus) Cadwallader; Sarah ( Justin) Zimmerman; Cody (Devan) Stieglitz and 8 great grandchildren. Betty’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Primrose Retirement Community for accepting the unusual living circumstances as we cared for our parents.
A visitation for Betty will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 12:30-1:30pm at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 28, 2023, at 1:10pm am. A burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery following services.
