Betty J. Kreher's Obituary
Betty J. (Augustine) Kreher, 88, died peacefully at DMH, surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 23rd at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery.
Mrs. Kreher was born on November 20, 1929 in Decatur, daughter of Harry and Goldie (Aubert) Augustine. She married James W. (Jim) Kreher on September 21, 1946, he is deceased.
Betty retired from St. Mary’s Hospital after 25 years of service in the Lab. She previously worked at Turner’s Ben Franklin in South Shores for five years and at Jones Meat Market a few years. Betty also helped with Jim Kreher Auto Service for over 30 years.
Betty is the mother of nine children: Janet (Chuck) Lanham of Reno, Nevada. Barbara Godsey, Carol (Brandy) Williams, John Kreher, Lindsey (Danell) Kreher, all of Decatur. Donna Conour of Monticello, Mike Kreher of Harristown, Dennis Kreher of Illiopolis and Mary (Dwayne) Darnall of Riverton. Betty has 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her husband, brother Donald Augustine, daughter-in-law Candy Kreher, son-in-law Mike Conour, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Mrs. Kreher was very active in the community. Betty was a member and past President of the Kiwanianne Club of Decatur. She also volunteered for St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, Decatur Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and St. Mary’s Retiree Club. She also helped out at her son’s garage, South Shores Auto Service. Most of all, Mom spent a lot of time bargain hunting, her car rarely sat still for very long. She was a big fan of The Bement Country Opry.Mom requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Kiwaniannes or Holy Family Church.The family of Betty J.
