Betty Rose Leader's Obituary
Betty Rose Leader, 88, of Decatur passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Betty Rose was born on March 28, 1925 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Lewis A. and Sara (Ichkowsky) Greenberg. She was a very active member of Temple B’ Nai Abraham. She was a former member of the James Millikin Homestead Foundation and a former past board member for the YWCA. She married Benjamin Leader on August 22, 1948 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are her brother Norman Greenberg (Harriet) of Decatur, IL and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also survived by her faithful companion Cuddles, her pet dog.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Fritz and his staff and her devoted caregivers for all their care of Betty Rose. The family would also like to thank Betty Rose’s friends for being there for her.
A graveside service will be at 10 AM Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Fairlawn Cemetery with Rabbi Barry Marks officiating. Following the service, there will be a meal of consolation at Temple B’ Nai Abraham. Memorial donations may be sent to Temple B’ Nai Abraham.
