Betty Lee Marlow's Obituary
Betty Lee Marlow, 89, of Decatur, formerly of Maroa, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born January 29, 1931, in Decatur, to A. Gerald and Nola V. (Gordy) Smithers. She married Herbert Glenn Marlow on July 2, 1949, in Maroa. He passed away July 17, 2007. She worked at Lehn Trucking and several grain elevators in the Maroa area. She was a member of Maroa United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, loved to needlepoint and looked forward to her monthly lunches with her sister and cousins.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenifer Marlow; her son, Marshall Marlow; her granddaughters, Angela (James) Hendren, Laura Hassinger and Kimberly Danielson; her great-grandchildren, Michael Gibbens (Sidnee Ober-Singleton), Tyler Gibbens, Rachel Hassinger, Corvin Danielson, Jase Danielson; great-great- grandson, Samuel Gibbens; her sister, Phyllis Ground; and her nephew, Stephen (Julie) Ground.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; her great-grandson, Jonathan Danielson; and her brother-in-law, Dean Ground.
The family would like to thank the staff of Caring Hearts, friends at the Oxford House and the staff at Hickory Point Christian Village.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Betty Marlow will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home 2091 North Oakland Avenue, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maroa Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Salvation Army or Paw Print Ministries.
