Betty Lou McKee's Obituary
Betty Lou McKee (September 2, 1930–May 29, 2025) was an amazing woman who led an amazing life. Betty was born in Tell City, Indiana, to Birdie and Everett Miles.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Alfred, Wilfred, and Clifford; and husband, Dan McKee.
Betty is survived by her sister, Margaret Evrard; sons, Steve (Karen) Bellinger, and Kirk (Lorrie) Bellinger; daughter, LeeAnn (Michael) Mattix; grandchildren, Stephani (David) Martin, Chris Mattix, Rachel (Chirag) Patel, Cameron (Amber) Bellinger, and Kelly Bellinger; and bonus grandchildren, Dale (Jennifer) Grinestaff, Kelli (Corey) Tolle, Ryan (Lyz) Hazlehurst, and Elizabeth (Zach) Tibbs.
Betty was the proud great-grandmother to seven: Jolie, Parker, Aiden, Allison, Carter, Avi, and Remi. She also had several nieces and nephews who were very special to her. She always looked forward to receiving photographs from all of her out-of-town family, and accumulated an impressive collection. Betty loved to sit down and show off all of her pictures of her family.
Betty was an extremely active woman in her community. She was fundamental in the volunteer program at St. Mary’s Hospital and at Decatur’s Republican headquarters. She frequently enjoyed lunches and bridge with her friends and had quite the social life. Betty was a member of the Decatur P.E.O., and a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. For as busy as this kept her, Betty always had time for her grandchildren. She spent her winters in Florida and the rest of the year in Decatur to be close to all of them.
Betty will always be remembered for her love of her family, her love of shoes, and her impeccable fashion sense. Wherever she went, she was guaranteed to be the best dressed.
