Betty Lucinda Nihiser's Obituary
Betty Lucinda Nihiser, 88, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 in her home with her family by her side.
Betty was born on December 31, 1928 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Dolly (Covey) Kingery. She was a devoted housewife and member on New Life Tabernacle of Macon. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and doing crossword puzzles. She married Charles Nihiser on January 18, 1947. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2007.
Betty leaves behind her children Janet (William) West of Mode, IL, Jeff (Lu) Nihiser of Decatur, Jane (Tracey) Sumpter of Decatur, Joe (Julie) Nihiser of Decatur, Jill McMahon of Decatur, and James Nihiser (Brandy Taylor) of Decatur, brother Dave (Pat) Kingery, sister Wanda Reed, daughter-in-law Donna, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jerry Nihiser, daughter Judy Cunningham, son-in-law Eddie, two brothers Clay and Teddy, three sisters Helen, Alice, and Patty, and five grandchildren Kimberly, Michelle, Johnathan, Jerry Jr., and Hannah.
Services to celebrate Betty’s life will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 21, 2017 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
