Betty Jean Wrigley's Obituary
Betty Jean Wrigley, 87, of Decatur, left her earthly body to be reborn in her new life in Heaven at 10:10 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2015. She was blessed to have all five children and ever faithful Father John Burnette to help in this transition and to let her know how much she was loved and what a wonderful person, mother, grandma and friend she has always been.
Betty was born October 6, 1928, in Lawrenceburg, KY, the daughter of Charles Edward and S. Lorine (Catlett) Sea. She graduated from Decatur High School. She worked at Kresge Dime Store in the office during high school. She later worked and retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and Son’s & Daughter’s of Ireland. She married John Orville Wrigley on August 5, 1947, in Decatur. From that union five children were born: Fred (Patti) Wrigley of Knoxville, TN; Charles (Pat) Wrigley of Peoria, IL; Paul (Julie) Wrigley of Decatur, IL; Mary Susan (Paul) Freeland of Avon, IN and Edward (Teresa) Wrigley of Morris, IL.
Betty leaves behind to celebrate her life, five children, nine grandchildren, six step grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her twin sister, Lily Kathryn Preston; her brother, Robert E. Sea; and her grandson, Jonathan N. Skidmore.
The family would like to express their gratitude to her special nurses and staff at Imboden Creek Living Center and Harbor Light Hospice who totally made her transition to her rebirth peaceful and comfortable.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church, 742 E. Clay Street, Decatur. Visitation will be two hours prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be North Fork Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Ss. James & Patrick Catholic Church.
