In Beverly's earlier years she supported her stepmother Philomena (Caccia) Crum with the caring of her thirteen (13) younger siblings. She elected to pursue a working career rather than to complete her secondary academics. She entered the certified nursing assistant training in the1960s and completed it successfully!
Beverly married Olive "Ollie" Freeman on September 8th, 1968, in Seekonk, Massachusetts. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Ollie’s hometown in Decatur, Illinois. On September 8th, 1982, Ollie and Beverly renewed their Holy Matrimony, officiated by the Reverend Errol E. Hunt, in the home of her mother Carrie Crum in Providence, RI. She was employed with Decatur Memorial Hospital, HSHS St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, Illinois and as a private CNA providing quality care to retired physicians. Her CNA career spanned over fifty (5O) years, and she did her work with timeliness, passion and excellence. After Ollie's passing on April 12, 2012, Beverly moved back to Rhode Island in 2017 to live out her last days among her family.
She enjoyed driving with her Disney crew in the back seat of her car while going on errands and to the YMCA for swimming. During Beverly’s and Ollie’s vacation seasons they enjoyed road trips to Rhode Island while visiting family and friends, but most of all eating seafood by the ocean. Beverly was a member of The Montaukett Indian Nation in RI.
Their home in Decatur was a safe haven and get-away for many family members and friends. Beverly and Ollie had one stepson, Albert Jones Jr., two granddaughters, Letechia Kilgor and Crystal Jones, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her five surviving siblings, Beverly leaves a host of nephews and nieces and an entourage of great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews throughout the United States. Her quick comebacks to comments and statements with mother wit or sometimes comical zingers will be immensely missed. Most of all, her smile will always linger in the hearts of her godchildren.
Beverly meticulously pre-arranged her desires for the time of her transitioning. Moran and Goebel Funeral Home in Decatur, Illinois is honored to carry out her wishes for cremation without public services. As per her instructions, family will gather for a memorial and scattering of her ashes. The memorial, officiated by Pastor Charles Berkley, will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Hampton Inn South Kingston, 20 Hotel Drive, South Kingston, Rhode Island, 02879.
