Beverly R. Rettke's Obituary
Beverly R. Wilks Rettke, 84, of Decatur, IL joined the angels in heaven on November 13, 2009 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Beverly was born October 2, 1925 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Ernie and Bernice M. Arnott Wilks. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Argenta, IL. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She graduated in 1942 from Argenta High School. She was member of Myrtle Chapter No. 131 O.E.S. of Clinton, IL. She began her working career at Taystee Bakery. Later, she worked for G.E., Bankers Life Principal Company and was a member of the Million Dollar Club. She also sold real estate for Bagley and Coldwell Bankers. She married Albert Rettke in 1983 in Decatur.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Al Rettke; daughter, Bernice “BA” Wakefield and husband Larry of California; son, Robert Bruns and wife Ann of California; brother, Billy M. McPheron and wife Norma Jean of Decatur; sister, Margorie Michener of Argenta; grandchildren, Brent Wakefield and wife Jeanine, Jason Wakefield and wife Cher all of California; great-grandchildren Chandler Wakefield, Alexis Wakefield, Caitlin Wakefield, Alexandra Fitch, and Logan Wakefield all of California; and ten nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters, one niece, and one nephew.
A special “Thank You” to all the staff of Lincoln Manor Nursing Home and the staff at DMH ICU for all their loving care of Beverly and concern of the family.
Funeral service celebrating the life of Beverly will be 1:30 PM Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Jones officiating. Visitation will start at 11:30 am Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Friends Creek Cemetery in Argenta, IL. Memorials in lieu of flowers at Beverly’s request may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Animal Shelter, or donor’s choice.
