Bobby Ray McMahon's Obituary
Bobby Ray McMahon, 77, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Bobby was born July 1, 1941 in Stonington, IL to Earl Edward and Mary Ellen (Fox) McMahon. He attended St. Patricks and St. Teresa High School. He later joined the Army serving 3 ½ years before honorably discharged. One year of his service was spent in Korea. He reached the rank of Specialist 4th class. He was rated an expert marksman and also received a letter of commendation for safe+ driving 2 ½ ton Army trucks under extreme hazardous conditions in mountainous terrain. He owned and operated “Electronic Unlimited” for over thirty years. He also owned and operated the semi-pro basketball team in Decatur the Decatur Bullets. He was an avid pool shooter and took up shooting trick shots. Soon after performed trick shots on two different television shows, “That’s Incredible” and “Real People”. He also had some of his shots featured in the National magazine “Billiards Digest” written by Willie Jopling. He performed many trick shot shows and loved doing shows for the veterans at the Danville Hospital. He performed several fund raising trick shot shows for good causes and would never charge a fee. He loved listening to 50’s rock and was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago Cubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William E. McMahon.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Bobby McMahon will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Decatur & Macon County Humane Society.
