Brooke Smith's Obituary
Brooke Smith, 93, of Decatur, died Sunday, January 4, 2009.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 7, at 11:30am in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Mechem officiating. Entombment will follow in Star of Hope Mausoleum. Donations may be made in her name to First Baptist Church, 1320 Arbor Dr., Decatur, Il, 62526.
Brooke was born September 1, 1915, in Benton, the youngest of eight, to Matthew and Cora Walker House. She married Truman Smith on May 15, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1995, following 58 years of devoted marriage. After attending Brown Business School, she worked as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed traveling alongside her husband as he served for the United States Navy. She was a compassionate and loving mother. She was involved with mission work at First Baptist Church, where she was a member. She was a past member of the Decatur Gardening Club, and DMH Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephany Smith, of Decatur; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and all of her siblings.
