Carl Harris Hardin's Obituary
Carl Harris Hardin 80 of Decatur died Saturday September 29, 2007 in Decatur Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
Homegoing services will be 11:00 am Saturday October 6, 2007 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the funeral home. Burial will be 10:00 am Monday in Camp Butler National Cemetery with Military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Carl was born on April 25, 1927 in Hickman, KY the son of Hunter and Blanche White Hardin. He retired from Adolph Meyers Mental Health Facility as a Tech 2 Mental Health Specialist. He worked as a school teacher working in La Forge and New Madrid Counties of Missouri and William Harris and Stevenson Schools in Decatur. He served his country proudly in the US Army and boxed in the Golden Gloves. He graduated from Russ College Holly Springs, Mississippi. He loved to go fishing and do woodworking. He married Mary Louise Westbrook on December 25, 1952 in New Madrid, MO she preceded him in death in 1990.
Surviving are his children, Dorothy Dotson Therman of Decatur; David Hardin Sr. Shirley of Decatur; Terry Hardin Shelia of Urbana; Carol Hardin of Decatur; Dorothy Davis Dempsey of E. St. Louis; Gwendolyn Gant Harold of Kansas City, MO; sisters, Floyd Edwards and Judia Redman both of New Madrid, MO; 26 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, Carl H. Hardin Jr. and Tommy Syas, and one sister Carrie Sims.
