Carlisle Samuel Morris, 88, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, in Decatur, IL.
Visitation will be at Central Christian Church, 65 West William St., Decatur, at 9:00 am Monday, April 6, 2015. Services to celebrate Carl’s life will be at 10:00 am with Pastor Michael Karunas officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Central Christian Church, or Lincoln Trails Council Boy Scout Camp, 262 W Prairie Ave, Decatur, IL 62523
Carl was born September 10, 1926 in Los Angeles, CA., the son of Samuel L. and Louise Ruby (Nelson) Morris. He graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a BS in Agricultural Engineering. While at Purdue, he met and married Janet Endicott on June 18, 1949. Janet passed away September 22, 1975. Carl and Janet have five surviving children: Curt, Steve and wife Jeanie, Brad and wife Paula, Marianne Hickel and husband Randy and Mark and wife Monica. Carl married Phyllis (Pease) Rowe March 12, 1977 at Central Christian Church. They were married thirty eight years and had the joy of welcoming ten grandchildren into their family: Chad, Heather, Tyler, Melissa, Brandon, Kyle, Jackie, Alex, Mallory, and Marina.
Carl began working for Caterpillar on October 18, 1954 He became a registered professional Engineer in 1957. He retired in 1988 after helping to design motor graders for thirty-four years.
Carl was a fifty-nine year member of Central Christian Church. He helped establish Boy Scout Troop 119 at Central, and was the Scout Master for several years. He was a church Deacon and honored in 2008 by being named a Deacon Emeritus of Central Christian Church.
Carl is also survived by his sister Beverley Fitch, nephew Bob Bowser and niece Barb Bowser of Indianapolis, sister-in-laws Bernice Doty and Ruth Jackson.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janet, in-laws, Loral and Opal Endicott and Handy and Alice Pease, brother-in-law, Al Fitch and sister-in-law, Janet Arnold.
