Carol R. Gentry's Obituary
Carol R. Gentry, 74, of Decatur passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family at her side.
Carol was born on August 27, 1939 in Altamont, IL the daughter of Chloie Thomas and Henrietta Elenora (Ficher) Kite Sr. She had worked for Standard Hatchery, was a longtime member of the garment workers union, and retired from School District 61. She attended the Salvation Army’s Women’s League and was a member of the Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club. She married James C. Gentry on October 21, 1956 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2010.
Surviving are her sons, James T. Gentry (Carol E.); William D. Gentry; Paul M. Gentry (Becky) all of Decatur; daughter, Donna K. White (Jason J.) of Moweaqua; sisters, Linda Kite of Colorado; Sandra Nighbert of Tennessee; grandchildren, Robert D. Gentry, Sonny Gentry, Brenna Shelly, Christopher Gentry, Michelle Gentry, Sophia Gentry, Matthew W. White, and Aiden J. White; step-grandchildren, Tanner White, Josh Toberman, and Ryan Toberman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Chloie Thomas Kite Jr.
Funeral service to celebrate Carol’s life will be 11 AM Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Moran &Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or The Salvation Army.
