Caroline Martha Ruffini's Obituary
Caroline Ruffini, 89, passed away on May 28, 2025, in Decatur, Illinois. Caroline was born to Clarence and Lorna Bomball on August 31, 1935, in Decatur. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church; St. John’s is where she married her beloved husband, Delfino Ruffini, they were married on May 22, 1955. She worked for many years for John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance in downtown Decatur. Del and Caroline loved to dance, have fun, entertain guests, and travel the world; but what they enjoyed the most was spending quality time with their family.
Caroline is survived by her three children, Jill (Richard) Hughes, Rocco (Cheri) Ruffini, and Julie (Kent) Peterson, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren: Lauren (Dillon) Ziegler, Lucas (Trisha) Peterson, Laura (Andy) Cooling, Rachel (Ricky) Minor, and Bethany (Derek) Gotts.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lorna Bomball, one sister, Eileen Hubbell, and her husband of 68 years, Delfino Ruffini.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Caroline. A Memorial Visitation and Service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Decatur. Visitation will begin at 10am and will be followed by the service at 11am. Burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery will follow the service.
