Carolyn T. Moran's Obituary
Carolyn Theresa Moran, 88, of Mt. Zion, Illinois, passed away September 23, 2025, at Mt. Zion Health and Rehab.
Carolyn was born in Olney, Illinois, on August 11, 1937, the daughter of August and Frances (Schneider) Weiler. She married Joseph Moran on October 5, 1957, in Decatur. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Carolyn managed food service for Decatur Public Schools and Aramark for many years. She was a faithful member of Ss. James and Patrick Parish. She and her husband Joe were ham radio enthusiasts and attended many ham fests together. Most importantly, she was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She adored them all and showered them with love and affection. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Carolyn is survived by her children David (Lisa) Moran of Decatur, Joyce (Alan) Wyne of Indianapolis, Elaine (Lewie) Schall of Decatur, and Bob (Melissa) Moran of Decatur; daughter-in-law Kaye Moran; brother Elmer (Beverly) Weiler of Olney; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Mike Moran, and 10 siblings.
Funeral Mass for Carolyn will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, October 4, at St. James Church in Decatur. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Private burial in Camp Butler Cemetery will take place at a later date.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Dhirendra Patel and the staff at Mt. Zion Health and Rehab for their excellent and compassionate care for Carolyn.
