Carolyn M. Stewart's Obituary
Carolyn M. (James) Stewart, 62, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014, in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Carolyn was born October 1, 1952 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Robert L. and Pearl (White) James. Carolyn was a member of Ss James and Patrick Parish in Decatur, and a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. She was a teacher at St. Teresa High School in Decatur, and the Director of Religious Education in Assumption and Moweaqua. She liked to crotchet, play the piano, sing in the church choir, and plan all the construction work for her husband to do on the house. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. Carolyn married Stephan L. Stewart on September 26, 1970, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Decatur. They shared 44 wonderful years together.
Carolyn leaves behind her husband, Stephan; son, Steven A. Stewart of Decatur; daughter, Nicole M. (Jeremy) McCammack of Decatur; brother, Ron James of Chicago, IL; and sister, Barbara Lacroix of Herrin, IL.
She is reunited in Heaven with her parents and brother, David James.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in St. James Catholic Church with Rev. John Burnette as Celebrant. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Memorials in memory of Carolyn may be made to the American Cancer Society. Burial will be held at a later date.
