Carrie M. Wells' Obituary
Decatur - Carrie M. Tibbs Wells, 92, of Decatur, transitioned from earth to eternity on the morning of Monday, April 4, 2022 at The Loft Rehabilitation of Rock Springs in Decatur, IL.
Carrie was born on July 26, 1929, in Way, Mississippi the daughter of Henry Tibbs and Dora Steward.
She was a longtime member of St. Peters AME church. She worked at General Electric Company for 10 years and then became a homemaker.
She united in holy matrimony to Edward J. Wells, Sr on December 31, 1951.
Carrie enjoyed listening to music, dancing, entertaining, laughing and talking with her family and friends until her health began to fail. Her presence will truly be missed here on Earth.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: three sons: Edward J. (Vernadene) Wells, Jr. of Decatur, IL, Ronald D. Wells of Streamwood, IL, Donald G. Wells of Kirkwood, MO; step-sons Carvel (Vanessa) Johnson of East Chicago, IN, Greg (Juanita) Akers of Springfield, IL; step-daughter Crystal (Charles) Young, of Decatur, IL; one grandson, Edward J. Wells, III of Decatur, IL; special nieces, Elease Meeks of Decatur, IL and Dolores (Mack) Small of Canton, MS; a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Wells, Sr.; parents, brother, Claude Tibbs, sister and brother-in-law, Mattiel and Percy Meeks, Sr., brother-in-law, Willie Wells, nephew Percy Meeks, Jr. and special cousin, Katie Smith.
Funeral services will be 11 am, Friday, April 8, 2022, at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; visitation will be one hour before the services. Burial will follow in Macon County Memorial Park, Decatur.
