Catherine Higar's Obituary
Catherine "Katie" Higar age 90 of Decatur passed away at 1:08 pm on Thursday, January 1, 2004 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Tuesday January 6, 2004 in the St. Thomas the Apostle Church, with Rev. Dennis Kollross celebrating, where visitation will be from 10 until service time. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is in-charge of arrangements. Family requests in lieu of flowers, donate to St. Thomas Church. Katie was born on August 26, 1913 in Universal, Indiana, the daughter of Alex and Elizabeth Toth. She married Leo Henry Higar, Sr. September 12, 1931 in Decatur, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1994. She was a lifetime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She worked at F.W. Means for many years.
Survivors include her sons; Leo Higar Jr. and wife Pat of Decatur, Carl Higar and wife Sandra of Texas, Paul Higar and wife Jean of Mt. Zion. Her grandchildren; Steve Higar and wife Shelley of Niantic, Lois Durbin and husband Tom of Decatur, Cathy Ater and husband Tim of Oakley, Diana Bolt and husband Richard of Decatur, Kevin Higar and wife Carol of Texas, Jon Higar and wife Michelle of Rantoul, Paul Higar, Jr. and wife Sarah of Mt. Zion, Robert Higar and wife Elise of Texas, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great- great grandchildren.
Katie was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Clara Jean, brothers, Alex and Joseph and sisters Rose and Mary.
