Catherine Lucille Laswell-Vatter's Obituary
Catherine Lucille Laswell-Vatter, 71, of Decatur passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 with her family by her side.
Catherine was born February 20, 1941 in East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Eleanor (Martin) Kukarola. She was a life member of the comedy club at the Decatur Conference Center. She loved going to the pool and being in the sun. Her nickname was 'Krazy Lady.' She married Kenneth Vatter on March 3, 1958 in East St. Louis.
Surviving are her husband; mother, Eleanor Kukarola of Parson, TN; sons, Richard Laswell (Stephanie) of Maroa, IL; Michael Laswell (Robin) of Durham, NC; daughters, Kimberly Vatter of Decatur; Evelyn Schardan of O'Fallon, IL; brothers, William (Donna) Kukorala of Dawsonville, GA; Robert Kukarola of Bellville, IL; sisters, Bernadine (Wayne) Hasp of O'Fallon, MO; Mary (Bill) Buckingham of Scotts Hill, TN; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Teresa Lee.
She was preceded in death by her father, brother, Joe Kukarola, and Carl Edwin Laswell.
A memorial service celebrating Catherine's life will be 8 pm Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Chaplain Rev. Paula Carmichael, officiating. A memorial gathering will be from 6-8 pm before service. Burial will be at a later date in Crossroad's Cemetery in Parsons, TN. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
